Dot Warns of Dangerous Condition Along Delemar Highway in Summerville

Columbia, SC – Bland Richter, LLP of Columbia and Charleston, SC sent the South Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT) a notification letter concerning Delemar Highway.

The purpose of the letter is to give the DOT actual notice of a dangerous condition on Delemar Highway from Cooks Crossroads to Ashley Ridge High School (ARHS). The letter was sent per S.C. Code §15-78-60(15) which mandates that the DOT correct all defects in a reasonable time.

The DOT maintains over 41,000 miles of public roadways. However, it has failed to adequately maintain this section of road that is used daily by ARHS students, faculty members, and staff.

“The ARHS family is living on borrowed time. As it currently exists, a serious injury or death will occur on Delemar Highway. Please repair this road to protect these students or the DOT will be held accountable in a court of law.” says Scott Mongillo, attorney of Bland Richter, LLP.
