OCTOBER 1, 2025 – Charleston, SC – Today Brian Musgrave filed a defamation action against some of the news outlets that republished as truth the false and defamatory attacks leveled against him by Nancy Mace during her February 10, 2025, House of Representatives’ floor speech and associated posts and interviews thereafter.
Unlike Ms. Mace, these Defendants are not cloaked with the virtual immunity that Congress enacted to protect themselves from civil lawsuits. Brian Musgrave is not a public figure. Brian Musgrave did not voluntarily inject himself in the spotlight. He was wrongfully pulled into a conversation about voyeurism and crimes against women, and was wrongfully made an unwitting poster boy for the cause. Truth is the only real defense in a defamation action. Brian Musgrave does not fear the truth. We look forward to the restoration of Brian Musgrave’s good name and reputation. When media outlets choose to republish or spin false statements made by others, they are just as guilty of defamation as the original author. We get it that news sells, but there is a price to pay for injuring an innocent man.
